Us

Tim asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year and I said a clothes line. He just laughed at me so I didn't think I would get it. But last week we picked up the supplies for it. I wasn't really expecting Tim to get it done for me right away but Monday we drilled the holes, Tuesday he put the posts in, and by Wednesday he had it up and running for me.
I have to get a stool to hang the clothes so last night Tim hung the first load on it.

Connor doesn't really like wearing hats but I got this picture after he just woke, fed, and changed; so he wasn't cranky.

This past week he has discovered his fists. Often times we find him spitting out his soother and sucking on his fists, or a finger.

Yesterday we had our annual branding. Our pastor Bruce does an excellent job branding the calves. Tim (front) is tagging and dehorning. Tom and Brian (left) are taking the manliness out of the bull!! Ryan is pushing the bulls up and I needle them all. We had 2 squeezes running. The other squeeze Greg, Dale, and Flurent (an exchange worker from Luxembourg) were branding the heifers. We had one big day and branded all 240 calves.

This is our brand. Steve and Nancy say we truly have the most "Canadian cattle" EH??

He me and my helper are filling the needles. He slept thru all the mooing and clanking. I guess he just feels at home with the calves.

Connor says

Connor is 8 weeks tomorrow. I can hardly believe it. His favorite things to do now are to look around at everything. His little blue eyes are always darting around watching everything. He doesn't like being held up to your shoulder anymore. Instead he wants to see everything while you hold his back against your tummy. He loves to swat at things, especially his little black & white kitty.
This morning we were playing Connor says. He absolutely loved it. He would make a sound and I would try my best to copy it. He would smile and make another sound. It went on for about 5 minutes. I love watching him change!

This morning we woke up a little before Tim, so we decided to wake him up.
Tim was trying to get him to smile for me but when he saw the red light on the camera he got his serious look on!

Like I said earlier he loves to watch things.

This past Sunday we all gathered at M&D's to celebrate mother's day of course. But also Shari birthday (May 1), my birthday (May 5), and Brian's birthday (May 8). Tim's Aunt Marg gave Connor this super cute onsie that I had to put him in. He looked like a little farmer - so cute!
Owen enjoyed his ceamsicle as well as Shari's.

I was down and M&D's Monday and Tuesday to help dad in the field. Mom took care of Connor for me. All I had to do was show up every 3 hours to feed him. I missed Connor during the day but it was great to be working on the farm again. I always want to help mom and dad out more but being 2 hours away hinders that slightly. Connor & I slept ok; he is giving me 7 hours between feedings at night. But being away from dad sucked. At M&D"s they have a toy that has a bunch of toys hanging from it. Connor loved looking at it and swatting at the toys. So this morning he got to play with his toy.

6 weeks

Well, we had our six week checkup yesterday. I am all healed up nicely which is good news. Now I can start training for my triathlon again. Swimming may be an issue now as I don't have daily access to a pool as I did when I was working but I'll figure something out. Connor is doing great to. He has grown 2.35 inches and is now 23.6 inches long which puts him in the 95% for his age. He has gained his 1 ounce a day and ways 11 lbs 7 oz.

Connor gave me 7 hours between feedings last night which was wonderful. But mostly his longest stretch is 5 1/2 hours - still very nice for 6 weeks. He has been having some fits lately at feedings but we just have to work together to figure things out. I have to be smart enough to figure out that he eats like a Markert and Earle - FAST. Once I figured out that he only needs about 5-8 minutes to eat the main course and 5 to eat dessert - the fits reduced significantly.

On Sunday we headed out west of Longview to Sandy McNabb day area to hang out with my family. With the media blowing the swine flu way out of proportion mom and dad needed to get away from the farm and hang out with the family. We had our first wiener/smokie/hamburger roast of the season.

My dad spending quality time with his "little pig". Or so he says. Connor makes little pig noises when he sleeps. It is pretty cute.

Owen had to give Connor kisses on his nose. Connor was wearing a Winnie the Pooh had and so Owen had to kiss Pooh's nose too.

This past Saturday was absolutely gorgeous so we spent all day on the deck. I was a bad mom and burnt one side of my son's face before I put him in the shade. Sadie has been a gem with Connor. As you can see here she is watching over him.

I know this is blurry but I had to show off his smile!

He wants to tell every one that he is going to be a farmer one day!

He loves his bath time now. It is part of his nightly routine.
My birthday was on Tuesday and we were alone for the day as Tim was busy in the field. It always rains on my birthday and Tuesday the sky let a few drops out. It was cool out so I bundled Connor up and we tried the stroller out on the road for the first time.
