Happy Fathers Day & Anniversary

Well Sunday was our 6th anniversary and Tim's first Father's Day. I can't believe 6 years have past already. God has truly blessed me with a wonderful man. One thing Granny (Tim's grandma) told me when we were just married was that you don't think you can ever be more in love with your spouse than you are on your wedding day. But, she said after being married for 50 + years your love grows deeper and stronger than ever before. I know it has only been 6 years but Granny's words are proving true for us.
Father and son on Father's Day

Tim & I don't do anniversary gifts but he did take the time to help me hang some pictures that I recently got framed. I have been saving my money to get some pictures framed. Finally just before Connor was born I was able to get them done. The one above I got for Christmas from my parents. It is a picture that my great aunt had painted of Vulcan's train station and elevators. Vulcan used to be at one point the wheat capital of Canada. I believe they had 9 elevators. Only 1 of them remains. Vulcan does have 2 of the new style of elevators, but the old one capture the prairies.

My parents actually got this one done for me for my birthday. My mom took this picture one harvest morning. It is the picture of the farms feed mill.

This barn is actually in our backyard basically. Tom and Ruth got the print for Tim last year and I finally got around to matting it. Tom made the frame out of barn wood. It turned out perfect. Thanks Tom and Ruth.

My great aunt Marg (a different one) made this doily for Tim and I as a wedding gift. It is a bunch of wheat heads in a circle. I know that doesn't explain it well, sorry. Marg passed away in 2005. I didn't want to use it and possibly wreck it so I decided to frame it instead. Marg was an incredible lady and I will cherish this forever.

A First for Everything

This last week Tim has been in for the evening relatively early. So I have left Connor with him and gone for my run. I have been using my machines downstairs but nothing beats running outside and filling your lungs with the fresh air. There is no phone ringing, or kid crying, or things that need to get done. It is just me and Sadie out enjoying Gods beautiful creation. I have forgotten how much I love running outside.

Well tonight Tim is out spraying the crops and I didn't want to spend the evening inside so I strapped Connor in his car seat and put him in the stroller for my run. Well, let's just say my run wasn't as peaceful as the last few. Connor screamed the whole time we went down the driveway. Once we got onto the main road he was fine. I guess he doesn't like the bumps. Sadie started running on 3 legs near the end, don't know why. This part is a little embarrassing but alas....Let's just say running is a natural laxative for me sometimes. So during my cool down walking back down the driveway I am walking rather funny, Connor is screaming once again, and Sadie is limping. I run to the bathroom leaving my kid screaming at the door. I think it was peaceful for about 20 minutes. Will I try it again? Most likely I will!!!

Thank you Good Samaritan

This past Saturday I dropped Lane off at Calgary Olympic Park for a mountain biking camp. I was pulling out of the parking lot to go garage saling with a friend when I thought my car was turning awfully hard. So I stopped and found that I had a flat tire. Tim was in the city helping a friend re shingle his roof so I called him hoping he would come and help. I know how to change a tire but I can never figure out where to put the jack. But Tim couldn't help or they wouldn't get done the roof before the rain came.

So I got the spare and the owners manual out and was getting started changing the tire. A nice couple past by and the guy asked if I would like some help. "I sure would" was my reply. I was so grateful for his help. I mean I could have done it but I know I would be stopping every 15 minutes to make sure the lug nuts were on tight enough. So I want to thank all those guys who would stop and help a girl change her tire. Thankfully Connor was having a nap during all this.
Tim looked at the tire and decided we needed to have the front two replaced. So we got them changed on Sunday. We knew the tires were getting worn but we were hoping they would get through summer. Oh well! I got to go shopping for new clothes.
We thought we would get some pictures in the backward on Sunday afternoon.

Tales of Connor

Connor has been really into telling stories to anyone who will listen. His toys even get the privilege of listening to the Tales of Connor. He often has lots to say after he eats. These pictures are just some of the face expressions that come with story time.

This morning after feeding Connor (he slept 8 hours for me!!!) and changing him he went to visit dad. Boy did dad get a story. Connor even rolled on his side to tell Tim the story; although I missed that on camera. This morning he was even doing actions with his story!! I love listening to his mumble it is just tooo cute.

Just like a kid

Yes I have to say when it comes to holidays I get excited as a kid. We have been planning for the last year to go salmon fishing out at Campbell River BC this year. Tim's family did this every summer till he was 13 so he has been wanting to take me since we have met. My dad really wanted to go to so we planned that my parents and Tim & I would go. But Tim doesn't remember much fishing detail. Our parents get along great so Tom & Ruth are coming to. I know, it kinda seems like a chaperoned holiday but it isn't. We kinda put off booking anything until we found out about my dad's surgery but it won't be till later this summer.

Last week I booked the campsites. I have been to Europe, Africa, Australia, the states and across Canada. Nothing beats the west coast in my opinion. Since our honeymoon on the island I have been anxious to get back to the coast. I can't wait for the ferry ride! I know this post seems to be jumping all around but I am just too excited for this holiday!!!! In 14 days we will hit the road. I am very thankful that our little man travels super good. My sister and her family might even be coming out to. That will make even better.

OUCH!!!!

This past weekend we went down to mom & dads to help re shingle their roof. They had a bad hail storm last year that totalled everything.
This is the lane way coming into m&ds. The apple trees were in full bloom & too pretty to not take a picture.
The crew is just finishing up stripping the old shingles off. After lunch I went up to help. Connor was a super doll and was perfectly content to sit in his bouncy chair under the mayday tree. It was 30 degrees on Saturday and felt even hotter on the roof. Tim, Dave & I worked on this side of the house. My uncle, his 2 boys, dad, Brian & Bryant worked on the other side. I just need to mention that we got our side done first with only one crew. (The other side had the chimney to work around.....) By 7, when we climbed down for supper we were all a little tired, hot and thirsty. My legs did thousands of squats and this morning I am still stiff. Ouch #1.

This is the back side of the house where there were twice as many people working.

This is the finished product. Tim went up Sunday morning while dad was doing chores to finish the ridge cap.

Ouch #2: As you can see Connor and I are rather red. Connor was in the shade most of the time but I guess the sun slipped through the leaves and left its mark on his face. He seems content this morning, so it must not be bothering him. He is 2 months old now. I can hardly believe it. He never wanted to be held much when he was younger. But if you hold him like Tim is he is the happiest now. He just loves to take everything in around him. We have his first set of shots tomorrow.
I do have a prayer request: could you please pray for my mom and dad right now. The pig industry is taking a big hit with the media misinforming the public about the swine flu.
just so you all know pork is still ok to eat. Thanks
