A little time inside

The last few days have been freezing here. -25 with the windchill.  Right now it is -30 out.  I've got the Christmas music on, the Christmas lights on and the wood stove pumping out the heat.  My goal is to have it +30 in here by noon!
Kale has been having tons of fun playing "animals" the last little bit.  Whether it is piling them into the chairs, the pirate ship, the barn, the liner, or just lining them up.  He has started having to bring a cow into bed with him at nap time.  He is very content to just play by himself.
Our advent activity yesterday was to decorate cookies with cousins.  So Beck and the boys came down last night and we had fun decorating. Kale got right in there and kept saying "self'" when I got the icing.  He would then go and lick the knife.  I made lots of trips back to the sink.
Connor got to decorate with Auntie Becky and just loved it.   I think the sprinkles were his favorite.

Some of their handy work.

Right now we are going to do our final advent activity - make a birthday cake for Jesus.

Merry Christmas!!!

Snow Fun!!

Last week the boys and I headed outside to make a snowman.  We quickly accomplished that so I decided to make piles of snow and see what  the boys would do.  Kale turned his into a slide and Connor used his as a launch pad.

I had difficulty catching Connor in the air but this one got it.  They had so much fun!  But man as soon as the sun started to go down (4:15ish) it got cold out.
Tuesday my mom brought my nephew Gavin up and they stayed overnight.  Super fun.  We have a few of the YMCA horses at our place now and Ì`ve been wanting to get the boys riding on the little pony.  I went and got a saddle (I know it isn`t a kids one) but it did the trick.  They loved it.

Yesterday my sister brought the other 3 boys out and we spent the afternoon sledding.  This morning Connor and I were shoveling the pad off in front of the garage and Connor got the sled out and was riding down the pad.  Now we have a strip in the middle of the pad for sledding on!
Today we are watching Riley and he loves everything farm so we headed back up to the farm to ride the pony.
Kale was a natural on her and wanted to hold the lead.  Connor would lean his whole body over the saddle horn but Kale just sat in the middle of the saddle.

December 1

The boys weren't eating their breakfast so I bribed them with a movie.  They finished their breakfast and allowed me to eat mine peacefully.
December 1 kicked off our advent calendar and our family activity was to build a gingerbread house.  I LOVE red barns and found a kit to do one so instantly I grabbed it.  After an hour of sticky icing this is what it looked like.  I vow next year I am using my glue gun!!
The boys quickly devoured the candy.
This is what it was supposed to look like!!!
