4 Months Old!!

This past week Connor has been quite content to just roll onto his side and watch what is going on around him. I can't believe our little boy is already 4 months old.
Yesterday we went to our dear friends church to watch their youngest girl Kadence be dedicated. I love baby dedications, you can't help but smile from ear to ear as you watch a family dedicate their child to God.

Afterwards we headed down to Black Diamond to visit my great Aunt Mary. She hadn't seen Connor yet so we thought we would go for a visit. Mary and her brother John farm about 6 quarters of land and calve out 100+ cows. They are both in their later 80s and Uncle John has had his hip and one knee replaced within the last 2 years. Mary still lives in the homestead house and cooks on a wood stove. I have always cherished our visits here and this visit was long overdue. It was very special to see Connor with Mary. She never asked to hold Connor and I didn't want to force her to hold him. I should have gotten mom to take a picture of me holding Connor by Mary. Oh well next time. My parents were down visiting to so we got to see them again. Mom was rocking Connor in the chair and he was smiling and giggling.
This is a picture of my great grandfathers blacksmith shop.
An old shed on the homestead used to house the lawn mower.

This is the house Mary lives in now and has since she was born. We spent many hours as kids rolling down this hill.

Connor got a little sleepy after visiting!!

When we got home I wanted to get a picture of us in front of the hay. It was hard to get Connor to look at the camera when it was set on the timer. We got Sadie to sit by the camera so he would look somewhat in that direction.

In the last couple of days he has started sticking his tougne out at us if we do it to him. Here he was actually copying Sadie.
Daddy and his buddy. Since haying has started this past week Tim hasn't gotten in till 10 or later so Connor hasn't seen much of his dad. He enjoyed hanging out with dad yesterday though.

Way Past Overdue

Last night I took advantage of the fact that haying hasn't started full time yet. Tim finished cutting hay by 7 and I was out the door by 7:45 with my swimming gear in tow. You see I am registered to do my 4th triathlon August 9. But Cremona doesn't have a pool and since I am not working anymore swimming has been a bit of an issue. I have told myself that I must be satisfied with the time I finish in and not to expect it to be too good. Training as much as I did before wouldn't be good for my milk - therefore affecting Connor - and I don't want that. I want to get a couple swims in at least before hand just to get the rhythm back.
I can't explain how good it felt to swim again. I even surprised myself with my time. The one thing I enjoyed the most though was getting out of the pool. I know that sounds very contradicting but let me explain. When I swam before work I had to get into my dress clothes, blow dry my hair and do my makeup. This really actually sucked when my body temp was high from a good workout. So last night; I got to put my shorts and tank top on, run my fingers through my hair, forget the makeup and just go home. It felt great! Connor has changed his eating routine to about every 4 hours now, so Tim was able to take care of him. Tim looked forward to just hanging out with his buddy - so everybody enjoyed the night.

Giving back to God

.This week was a week of firsts for Connor. But the most important day was yesterday when we dedicated Connor at church. The pictures are at the end of this post.
Connor has been sitting on our laps well so we thought we would try the bumbo chair. He loved it. I had to make about100 cookies for vbs and he loved sitting in it just watching me.
I got a super deal on this jolly jumper. He loves standing up so we put him in here. He liked it, but didn't jump. My 11 month old nephew was over yesterday and he loved it. Connor has started rolling over from his tummy to his back to this week. He has been sucking on his whole fist for a while now but now he has found his fist.

Uncle Dave & Uncle Tim were playing the nemo game with Owen yesterday. They would each take a fish cracker and eat it on the count of 3. Owen would get super excited and stuff as many as he could into his mouth. It was quite funny, a video would have captured it better but oh well.

The pictures of the dedication turned out really dark but I figured I would post them anyways. Connor did super good and even let pastor Bruce hold him. He was doing great in church and then right before we went up he started to fuss just a little. But he did great up in front of people. Thank you Bruce for dedicating our son, it meant a lot to us that you did it.

There is nothing more special than being given this little a precious gift from God. It was very special to give our son back to God and to have all our family (most of them anyways) there to share it with us.
We came back to our place and ate the 24 pound salmon that we caught on holidays. It was suppppeerrrr yummy.

Update

Connor is super strong on his legs, and has been since 5 weeks. If he is fussing he often justs wants to stand and look around.

This past weekend we headed down to check the cattle at my parents place. We took the jetskis with us and went down to Little Bow with my brother and his wife. Connor loved playing in his peapod again. He smiles lots, but it is so hard to get pictures of him smiling cuz he is always moving. Here he is telling another story.

We took him to the water and he wasn't quite sure about it.....

Really not sure about it.......

Seems to like it OK!

Creation Calls

After spending a week on the ocean and driving through the Rocky Mountains. The worship song creation calls keeps rolling through my head. So I thought I would share the words. They capture so much of what I have been feeling these past weeks.

I have felt the wind blow
Whispering your name
I have seen your tears fall,
When I watch the rain
How can I say there is no God
When all around creation calls
A singing bird, A mighty tree
The vast expanse of open sea.
Gazing at a bird in flight
Soaring thru the air
Lying down beneath the stars
I feel your presence there
I love to stand at ocean shore
And feel the thundering breakers roar
To walk through golden fields of grain
Neath endless blue, horizons great.
Listening to a river run
Watering the Earth
Fragrance of a rose in bloom
A newborns cry at birth
I Believe
I Believe
I Believe

Campbell River

Connor wore his car sleeper for the road trip out. He travelled great. Since we can turn the airbags of on the passenger side of the truck he was able to ride in the front with Tim and I which made it easier to settle him down if he fussed.
Pam, Bryant, Owen & Gavin on the ferry.

Connor loves riding in the snuggly this way. It also made us feel that we were not going to drop him either. Holding him by the rail just made us nervous.

We had to take the ferry to Victoria rather than Nanimo on the way out cuz there was a 4-5 hour wait for the nanimo ferry. We stopped at Buchart Gardens before heading up to Campbell River. I love it there.

On our honeymoon Tim and I had our picture taken in front of this fountain. So we figured we would get a family picture done. Connor was 3 months old in this picture.

The whole fam together.

This was actually taken at Elk Falls, but I can't get it to move down there.

Connor's first day at the beach. We had a short visit here one day and he was ready for his nap. Tim took him to the beach another day but the tide was in and all the sand was covered. The beach at our campground was all rock.

Gavin absolutely loves flowers. Instead of letting him in the pottery store he played with the Flowers.

Connor's typical outfit in the morning. The campground was well shaded with big trees so when the wind blows it is quite cool. Tims grandma knit this sweater for Connor.

One of our day trips was to Elk Falls. We found a resting spot for lunch on the Campbell River and hung out for a while. Connor and Tim catch some shut eye. After I took the picture I covered Connors face with his hat. It is sooooo hard to make sure he doesn't get direct sun. I wish there was sunscreen that babies could use.

Owen had everybody on their stomachs blowing bubbles in the water.

Our campground, Salmon Point RV & Resort, was beautiful. It wasn't very busy. This was the view from our door. Mom, dad, Pam & Bryant stayed in a very spacious cabin. We all ate our suppers together.

While we were there the wind was super strong. We just about didn't go out but decided we better. Our first catch of the day was this dogfish. Our fishing expedition was the longest stretch that I had been away from Connor. Tim handled it very well and the feeding from the bottle went smoothly.

This is the 24 lbs fish that my dad & I caught. It actually took all four of us to reel this guy in. Tim went out the next 2 days to see if he could get a fish but he couldn't. Last year when we were in PEI we went deep sea fishing and I caught more fish than Tim. So there is no argument now. I am just the better fisherman!!

We all had to pose for the resort to take a picture to post on their wall.

Owen and Connor hanging out together. This past week we just watched Connor grow. When we went to give him his bath at home in the portable bath he didn't fit anymore.

Owen is a very affectionate 2 year old. He wanted to hold Connor forever. Then he started giving him kisses. It is just too cute.

I found some toys to attach to the car seat on the way home. Connor was entertained and travelled great.
