Branding 2016

Yes I know this happened a month ago.  But I wanted to post it so I would remember details for my own purposes down the road.  It was a cool day but we all enjoyed it.  Well Lexi enjoyed it more when she got to hang out with Auntie Becky at her house.
Kale and Connor's jobs were to keep the small pens of bulls and heifers loaded.  Kale has no fear with the animals and willingly goes into the pen not scared that the calf might hit him.  Connor enjoyed moving the cattle as long as he was standing on the panels.
Lexi and her daddy hanging out.
Our old hired help Mack came back to help for the day.  It was good to see him again.
As always Buddie and Janna came out to help.
This is where Connor was most comfortable - from up top.
Damon was also helping the boys bring the calves in.

Mr. Marco started pushing the calves in but got frustrated quickly with their stupidity!!
Kale was in heaven.  Connor and Damon would go off playing somewhere in between loadings.  But not Kale, he was in there riding calves, pushing them up, and watching everything.  If he didn't know what they were doing he'd just ask a million questions until he got it figured out.  That boy is going to have the birds and the bee thing figured out before he goes to kindergarten!!
My favorite picture: The boys bringing in the big bunch by themselves.
There are 3 cows on the farm that the kids ALWAYS look for.  Mrs Roan (which is my cow), Pet (as a heifer you could always pet her when we fed her grain) and white cow (the only white cow on the farm).  Kale had to ride each of their calves.  Yes he knows each calf.  This one was white cow's calf.  Mr. Marshall is our current farm help.  Marshall and Kale are quite a team!!
