Well, Tim and I decided to sell our steers that we had down in Vulcan. But we had to round up some our friendly steers who were visiting the cattle across the road. We were missing 4 out of our pasture and figured they would all be in the piece across the road. WRONG!!
We only had 3 in there and they would not cooperate. We ran them all over the pasture trying to get them out. Finally they were too tired to try so we got them out. Once they were in our pasture and we got them in the pens to load; one spooked and went over the panels. In the process Greg almost got trampled by 14 other critters. We loaded all that were still in the pen and went to get the loner.
2 years ago he was an orphan and we bottle fed him for the spring. You thing he would be a quiet docile steer. WRONG!!! Tim`s patience paid off and we finally got him in the pen. But he started to go crazy, running at the panels again trying to jump them. We let out my favorite steer "wooly" (Tim doesn`t like naming his critters, but I always nickname my favorite) and he calmed the other down enough to load him. We sent 15 to market and hope the other one is somebody else's pasture and hopefully we`ll get him when they bring their cattle in for the winter.
There never seems to be a dull moment in our lives!
