The boys travelled great. Between movies, my bag full of goodies and activities, and singing action songs to get their limbs moving we mad the drive from home to Abbotsford in about 12 hours. We were all glad to get to the cabin though.
As soon as we got to Salmon Point, Connor wanted to go see the ocean. It wasn't long before he was throwing rocks and loving every minute of it. Tim and I were talking about the boys on the way home yesterday and cannot believe how much both of them have "grown up" over the holiday.
Connor has always been super shy, especially when we go to new places. Our first night away from home we stayed with friends in Abbotsford. They had their own kids over and their grand kids so there was lots going on. I thought for sure Connor would be hiding in my legs. But he surprised me and said hi and within about a minute of stepping in the house was running around with the other boys. When we went for walks or hikes he started saying "mornin" or hello to those passing us. He'd never do that before. We stopped at McDonalds on the way home so they could play at the playplace. This particular one had a tunnel to crawl through to get to the slide (parts of it were just netting and you could totally see the floor 10 feet below). Connor didn't even hint at being afraid and just crawled through.
We went on one hike that was a 6 km loop. I figured Connor would be able to do it but he made it to about 5 km before his legs got too tired to walk any more. This is a picture of Campbell River - very high.
We all adored having Tim around everyday all day but none more than Connor. I tried putting Kale down for his nap this afternoon and he screamed until Tim went in and gave him a hug.
