Yearling Sale

This past weekend Tim and I took our steers of the pasture at mom and dads to sell at the High River Auction. Everything went really smoothly from bringing them in to loading them. We were about 1/2 mile out of High River when we realized we had a flat tire on the stock trailer. In our haste to leave Sunday morning Tim forgot to transfer his tools from ranger to the other truck. So we were sitting on the side of the road with only a truck jack and no tools. Thankfully my sister lives in High River. Bryant came to our rescue. But the truck jack wasn`t man enough to lift 19-860 lbs steers. Bryant and I went on a search for a hydraulic jack but it was 6:30 on a Sunday night and nothing was open. Our last resort was the esso gas station and they lent us a jack. But by the time we got there, Tim had the wheel off. This is where the story has a twist. A young guy was walking down the highway and stopped to see if Tim needed help. He had just gotten into a fight with his wife and she told him that she wasn`t going to drive him home and he would just have to walk home. But home was about a 20 min drive from High River. Anyways, he suggested to Tim to use the jack on the front of the trailer to give a little more lift on the front. Tim was so embarrassed that a town boy thought of that and not him. It worked and we were on our way.
We spent the night with Pam and Bryant and the next morning we took Owen to the sale with us. He just loves animals. He could sit and watch them forever if we would let him.

There is a walk way out back that goes over top of all the cattle being sold. It lets you look at them and see when your cattle are being brought in. Owen and I walked back and forth many times. He would take a couple steps and then squat so he could see through the panels and point at the cattle. He would then take a couple more steps and so the same thing.
He was just to darn cute, not to take a bunch of pictures of.
Here Uncle Tim and Owen are looking for our cattle. Owen just loved it. He saw Tim at the end of the walkway and ran to him. But the floor isn`t too even so he did a couple face plants. But they didn`t bother him one bit.
He loved the big trucks too. He stood here for quite a while just watching the truck drive by. He was getting a little tired so we took him inside and he discovered the slippery benches. He wasn`t so tired then. When Pam came to pick him up he didn`t want to go he was having too much fun.
